Mike works mainly in acrylics using the North Devon landscape as the basis for his paintings. Working sketchbooks and drawings will also be on display.
About The Artist
My work has evolved from the North Devon landscape. The majority of my landscapes are of the local area within 15 to 20 miles of Barnstaple. I paint mainly in acrylics but also use charcoal and pen and ink in my drawings which I consider an important part of my art practice.
Drawing allows me to make a visual analysis of the landscape and this, I find, helps to simplify and also enrich my painting process through my mark-making and my application of paint.

Update from 3 Elizabeth Drive………
Busy preparing tray frames for ND Art Trek paintings. Estuary Painting No 34 completed and No 35 is ‘work in progress’ at the moment. Two Lundy paintings nearing completion.
On- going work – making and preparing painting panels and canvases.
That’s Great Mike,
Good to hear you have so much underway – I believe I discern a distinctly watery theme for the Open Studios…
Hi Christina,
Yes, a watery theme at the moment. Trees and hedgerows to follow – maybe the odd muddy lane as well. I do like to present completely new work at each Art Trek event and hedgerows were the number one idea but it depends on what time I have available to develop the work.
Best wishes, Mike.
Good to hear you’re busy with painting new works, Mike. Look forward to seeing them in the event. Stella Levy
