Lesley Anne Cornish 2016

Bideford Artist producing a mix of contemporary and traditional paintings inspired by the local landscape, plus portraiture and colourful abstract pieces.

About The Artist

Lesley has had a long career painting in all mediums, and has taught in art studios in Spain, Berkshire and Wiltshire, both in classes and on a private one-to-one basis. She produces work in acrylics, oils, inks and watercolours in a variety of styles, covering many subjects. Her paintings have been bought by followers across the UK and in USA, Canada, Spain, France, Saudi Arabia and Finland.

Her work is very wide-ranging as Lesley does not work to one formulaic method and likes to experiment, always seeking new ways to look at, and capture, the essence and atmosphere of subjects with contrasts of structure, light and shade, and using a variety of techniques and mediums to produce the desired effect. Always open to new ideas she believes that in Art you never stop learning.
Contrasting light and shadow figure prominently, and a sense of atmosphere and mood are present in the seascape and landscape pieces inspired by the local countryside. Abstract ink paintings are fun and colourful, giving a new dimension of ‘avant garde’ to figurative representation. Lesley also produces sensitive head portraits of characters whose faces have their life story written upon them.

  1. I am very much looking forward to seeing your latest work Lesley – I hear the North Devon coast has become a frequent subject for you. I have missed going there this Summer – only a couple of excursions with friends – and mostly stayed in the countryside near my Studio.
