Jill Rousseau in My Town Bideford

North Devon Gazette features Jill Rousseau in her Gallery.

The article is in their free magazine which is called ‘My Town Bideford’, a monthly magazine which regularly publishes updates and news about the vibrant artistic community in the town. North Devon Gazette is very supportive of the visual arts and eager to spotlight individual artists and art events.

In the September issue the Magazine encourages their readers to Meet the Artists taking part in Art Trek, naming several artists in Bideford with a photo montage of Jill Rousseau and works by the Art Trek artists exhibiting in her gallery.
Jill is delighted with the extra publicity for her new gallery and for the open studios. She is excited to be exhibiting ceramist Eilean Eland and painter Janis Glover for the art trek event and states “Hilary Paynter’s work and Razale Scott Olivier’s jewellery is also available from the gallery”.

Transcript of the Article – Meet the artists

North Devon Art Trek is back for the 13th year running this month, and it brings with it a chance to meet some of the town’s fantastic artistic talents…

September means one thing – it is Art trek time in North Devon. This is a chance to get up close and personal with some of the region’s artists, to learn about their crafts and view their works in open galleries and studios. The North Devon Arts Society has pieced together this year’s event, which is celebrating its 13th year running, from September 10-25.

A spokesman for the society said: “North Devon Art Trek is a fantastic opportunity to explore the artistic talent North Devon has to offer. Meet the artists face to face and talk to them about their inspirations, challenges and methods. Get creative yourself at the various workshops, or fall in love with that unique work of art which you cannot leave without”

Jill Rousseau Gallery, which opened in Bideford this year, will be showcasing works from ceramist Eilean Eland and painter Janis Glover, as well as Jill’s own art, from September 9-25 as part of the Art trek event. You can find the gallery at 3, Cooper Street, Bideford.

Other venues in Bideford include ceramicist Fiona Matthews in Clovelly Road industrial estate, and Mary Myers, who works with silver jewellery, in Northam.

In the town itself are open studios with painter Robin Lewis, wood engraver Hilary Paynter, ink and oil painter Michael Storrs, painter Sophie Cobb, jewellery maker Razale Scott Olivier and painter and sculptor Peter Newell.
